Purple Photo

Hi,

My GF took a picture today and it was fine. Once we got home and viewed the picture on the laptop and again on the camera it has gone purple aside from a section in the upper left corner. The camer is a Pentax P70, it has not been dropped or had any liquid spilt over it. It is only 3 months old. This has also happened to a picture that was taken yesterday that turned green. All other pictures taken before or after it have been fine. The camer was used in normal conditions on a standard setting.

When viewing this on the laptop through the Pentax software it is fine in 'thumbnail' form but when you look at the 'preview' or when you open the file it then appears purple!

Any ideas what the problem is? It is a concern as we need this camera for a function that we are going to in the next couple of days.

Thanks for your help in advance

If the thumbnail is fine but the picture is vastly different, I'd guess there's something broken in the camera. You don't need to drop these crappy electronic devices for them to break these days, they just tend to break on their own.

The picture you're seeing on the camera is really just that same thumbnail in a larger size. The camera displays that because it's faster to load than the whole picture. When you view the image on a laptop, you're seeing the whole image, not just a thumbnail.

Of course, whether or not the camera is broken is just a guess... you didn't post a picture for anyone to look at.

Post some of the pictures here so that some of us here can help.

Agreed with GoremanX's assessment on the thumbnail picture and actual picture. The purple effect could be caused by your camera.

Can you post the pics. Maybe it is a faulty lens or the camera sensor needs cleaning.
