With most of the boats out of the water it can be nice to remember summer.

Will I ever get bored with this lens???

(Now if only I had gotten this shot level)

This was taken a couple of days before the freeway was open @ 11mm (also got a few other shots on the freeway you wouldn't want to try in peak hour )

do you fisheye owners use them enough to justify cost (if cost is a bit of an issue 4 u?)

Yep, though mine (Zenitar 16/2.8) is a relatively inexpensive lens.

I certainly do. A fisheye can make an interesting photo even even when there's nothing interesting to photograph. I walked around a city block and took some nightscapes with a standard lens. Then I did the whole tour again using the 10-17mm for an entirely new perspective. But I don't even need to change lenses to change perspectivewith the 10-17. I can shoot at either end and the results at 100 degrees FOV are radically different than 180. It really is two lenses in one.

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. ;)

Just a few "getting ready" shots from my best friend's wedding last Friday night. I was a bridesmaid already dress and ready (gotta please the bride ). Since I had a good chunk of time to burn, and her main photographer (who I adore his work ) was a 4 hour deal, I helped her out with my beloved fish-eye and beasty (Promaster 70-300).

I was wondering about that myself when I got the 10-17, but now that I've had it a while I know it was worth it. I'm not sure I would say the same thing for a fixed-length fisheye, unless it cost a lot less money.

The Pentax DA10-17 really is pretty versatile, especially for me as a travel lens, for the types of shots I like to take. On a recent 2-week trip I found I was using it quite often, and can see including it in a travel set-up, along with the DA21, DA40 and DA70.

Here are few shots from a recent outing with the DA10-17 Fisheye. At 10 or 11mm you can certainly see the distortion, but I don't mind it and try to use it to advantage. (I don't think the card dealer realized how wide my field of view was, I'm pretty sure he didn't think he was in the picture at all.)

At 17 you can control the distortion pretty well I think.

This weekend was the annual Adirondack Hot Air Balloon Festival. The DA 10-17 was the perfect lens for getting shots of the balloons on the ground. When everybody else was walking backwards, I was walking forward to get my shots.

I bought the Samyang 8mm f/3.5 fish-eye a week ago and these are the first shots I got with it.
