Timelapse Question

Can i hook my K-x up to my laptop and use my laptop as a remote shutter release?

Sorry if this is a 'noob' question.

@Theosixx

I don't see how your device is going to solve Spideralexx's question.

Am I missing something? The K-x can not be controlled by this device or am I wrong?

Not yet ready for release, but coming soon.
Are you shure?

When I first got my K10D it worked with Pentax's Remote Assistant software. After I upgraded its firmware, it no longer did, which kinda sucked.

It is possible to remote trigger the K-X with an IR control - the IR control can be hacked to be controlled by a computer - put a microswitch in parallel with the remote clicker's button. This requires some electronics experience, but it is not difficult.

Also there is shareware available to turn a Palm device into an IR intervalometer for Pentax.

A similar app exists for windows PDA devices.

It's not quite what you were after, but there seem to be (at least) three K-x IR intervalometer solutions that have been discussed on the forum that might be useful to you. However none (alas) allow direct PC > K-x control:

(1) the Palm shareware linked above;
(2) the Pcclix intervalomater
(3) the Gentled IR intervalometer discussed in this thread, which works a treat, but is stand-alone.

In the end I guess you may not need to use the laptop if all you want to do is just for example set off the shutter automatically every 30 seconds over a certain period of time. Any of the devices above will do that task just fine.
