I feel the dynamic range in video from k-5 is very limited

We all know the dynamic range of k-5 is amazing...but that seems only true for photo...for video..I find it is much less..
check my recent video clip...u can fast forward and watch from 1:00 to 1:15..
I do not know if other DSLR has better DR in video

all DSLRs have a lower DR when shooting video because in-order to encode the video stream you have to throw away a lot of information. also to now capture 24 frames a second vs a top of 7fps in stills, im not sure if it is how the sensor is then powered or just how the data is interpreted, but there is a reason why only the highest end digital cinema cameras can capture 13+ stops in full motion.
also because there is a lack of ISO control on the K-5 it makes it very hard to pull the maximum DR potential out of every situation as you cant find the sensors sweet spot (most DSLRs today its around 160iso for video)
i would really suggest next time your shooting video setting your aperture about 2 stops darker then you want it, lock the auto exposure to expose for the brighter/est object in the scene. Then with your aperture and the ev adjustments expose for the subject in the scene to eye and the histogram and you should get some more DR out of your image. lately i have been exposing on the darker side and bumping it up in post for highlight protection.

There is a hint of high dynamic range video on the roadmap for the new chip that pentax use for their Prime.
They have released new chip this year so we will probably see that in upcoming pentax and the newer chip with HDV will probably come next year.

So patience =]

thanks..good suggestion..
I agree since we can not restore the detail in overexposed scene becuase it is gone, but we can still bring back some detail in underexpose scene.
