New Rode mics coming

Two new Rode microphones are coming out specially for DSLR.
One isn't that special but the other has a build-in recorder.
So if you want an all in one solution that one looks really promising.

Thanks for sharing this information, Anvh!
I am looking into buying an external microphone for my K5, that will be very useful to me.

Do they really have to be that big? I do want a better mic, but I want to attach it to the camera, not attach the camera to the mic.

They both have a build in shock-mount and yes those are big.
And the shotgun mic has a recorder which makes it bigger.

These are decent quality mics, it's like you're now complaining that the DA*16-50 is bigger then the kitlens...

Yes, I like the idea with the built in recorder, I still think it's to big to be mounted in the tiny flash-shoe though. I get the feeling that if I turn around to fast with the camera something will break.

I found the Nikon ME-1 mic while surfing and that is more the size I would like to have. But according to reviews it's not that great, so... I keep on searching.

After a lot of surfing I went for a Sony PCM M10 recorder instead of a camera mounted mic. Hopefully that will be ok for my "work".

Depends on what your work is.
Those little mics on the recorder can only go so far.
I also have a recorder with a stereo mic but i use the shotgun the most.
