Not sure if this has been posted here before...

It seems, a decade or two ago, Pentax did dabble in video.

Yes, I know that one. AFAIK it was outsourced (JVC or some like that). Nothing remarkable about that camera though; typical black 80's plastic, made to be quickly forgotten forever

As said above probably badged. In the 80s camera manufacturers seemed unsure of how video would fare after super 8 and every maker seemed to feel the need to have some sort of presence in this field, however contrived.
Strangely of all the big stills makers of the era only Canon really made any impact on video and no other company, successful in the super 8 era, carried it on into video. So manufacturers like Panasonic, JVC and Sony with no domestic photographic success before got a foothold in the consumer market
