Hopefully that will be the last project with the Glidecam.
I love the simplicity of the Glidecam, but boy, is it tough in the slightest breeze.

Since DJI seems to have *just* released the Android version of their app to control the Ronin, I hope to play with it today - although the shoot today it would be overkill to bring along the Ronin.

Good time to practice perhaps, and to look impressive to your clients?

Your video looks good. Most of the footage is Glidecam, right? It moves around quite a bit...

Is that your voice?

Yep, glidecam...and no, not my voice but a woman who is part of my team.
I've got about 6 people directly (hiring more) and about a hundred dotted line folks that I am the editorial/creative/multimedia person for.

I try and get folks who can "do it all" - After Effects/Premier/Cinematography - but I like each person to have a "super power".

That woman has that "voice", and she also does it professionally.

Some "super powers" are graphic design, musical talent, project management, animation...etc. etc.

I am incredibly fortunate to be able to hire the people that I am.
Fantastic company to work for, and we have such exciting things coming!

I live in a dream of Pentax everyday, along with After Effects and other creative software and projects.
I know how fortunate I am. I wake up everyday and am thankful.

Well, I finally broke down and bought a DJI Ronin.

Works AMAZINGLY well.

Here's a picture you don't see very often!

Hard to believe how much I spent for a gimbal, but the results are worth it.

Any one else with a Ronin?

Hey,,, Im trying to do the same.
1) How did you manage to mount the camera to the Ronin? I found the K3 to be short of threads for the head.
2) Are you able to use the controls on the Ronin to control K3?
3) Any other tips?

To elaborate on what is being discussed on your other post, is there any chance that the screw on your Ronin is not original to the unit? I can assure you that the K-3 is not "short of threads" unless it is being mated to a too-long screw or possibly a screw with other than 1/4-20 (1/4", 20 tpi) UNC threads.

Side stepping - if anyones on a budget I can recommend the Zhiyun Crane series - I've had a pretty easy time getting one to work with my K-01 and JVC-HD7 Camcorder.
It would handle a K-3 or KP, K-1 body might be a little too big though, and the Q needs a little extra ballast mass to work.

Ok, done for the day, back in my Hotel room. The Ronin - as in the original one. I stopped using it pretty fast after posting here, as it was way too heavy, and it just destroyed me to use it. At the time the Ronin thumb controller was not out yet, and the original Ronin app was terrible. I also remember buying a 'generic' DJI plate for the Ronin, as the stock was was designed for a C100 or RED or something along those lines. I still have everything, its just has not been charged/updated in years.

Fast forward to what happened in those years...

I used the Osmo (first gen) and that was amazing in what I could create, then I went to to Zhiyun Crane with the Sony A6500 - and I also used the glidecam system again.

Today - like in today, as in a few hours ago - I am back into using DJI stuff as I use the Ronin-S which is a great "single" hand gimbal.

So I recommend the "Crane" or "Weebil" or the Ronin-S with the Sony A6500 or A7S.

Pentax cameras on gimbals, sadly are not very good from experience. Pentax glass on Sony cameras, on a gimbal are pretty good too.

Once you use a Sony 6500, with the touch screen and face tracking on a gimbal, you will be sold.

On a side note....wow...looking at my work from years ago, how I described things...what I was thinking...kinda like a time capsule. SO much has changed since then. Funny to see those older videos...definitely a time capsule.

So... Is the thumb controller compatible with the Ronin and Ronin-S?
What about its compatibility with Zhiyun Crane2&3?

The thumb controller I eventually got is still in the box since it came after I transitioned to other devices. I don't think its compatible as DJI is DJI.

Seems like similar experiences to a lot of others have had with the same gimbal systems,.

Though I'd argue in favor of the K-01 on a gimbal, with the MovieSR turned to Off.
The compact nature of the K-01 makes it easy to balance.
