How to brighten (+2 EV) my video?

Hi PF Friends,

I shot some vids with my k30 (EV accidentally set to -2) and it's a little dark.
What's the easiest way to process brighten the vid?

Thanks!

You need to get an editing program that can do that. Googling "brighten video" would probably give you suggestions. Don't expect very good results, mind you.

Hi there!
I found avidemux, which appears to work with the quicktime vids this k30 produces. Having never edited video in my life I was feeling sort of helpless but a search did provide the help. Ok, back to figuring out how to do this.
Thanks!
John

If you use Lightroom 4 or 5 for your photos, it can also work with your video with the Library mode image controls. You can also trim the videos.
Additionally you can also apply 'presets'. If you want a unique preset for your video, just make a frame grab then edit that in the develop module and save the preset which you can then load in Library module for the whole video.

Ok, avidemux left really bad artifacts on the output.
I don't have lightroom.
I've been subsisting on Picasa.
I'll look into another run on avidemux or another process altogether. I get the impression that I should just get LR or PS but I also have the impression that I need just one feature and could get by on a freeware. I'm pure amateur and don't mind amateur results, I think

Tried Windows Movie Maker??
There's a free version of VideoPAD.

When you save out, make sure you save at a higher bitrate than program default, otherwise you end up with nasty 'artifacts'.

Does WMM support colour/brightness adjustments?

Something tells me the artifacts would be there regardless of software used.

Cheapest PC method,...

Get the 64 bit version of Virtual Dub if you have a 64bit version of Windows.
( I haven't tried this with the 32 bit versions )
Load the FFMPEG plugin in to it.
Open VirtualDub, import file(s) begin cutting.
Apply judicious use of the Brightness/Contrast filter.

Never had any luck with VDub loading Pentax H264 .mov files.

But the Free version of VideoPAD is awfully cheap

I tried VirtualDub Mpeg Mod, it doesn't like Mov files at all, and the 'mov' plugin fails as well.

The FFMPEG plugin works though, at least on the 64 bit platform and version.

Yeh that works, thanks. I guess it doesn't pickup on the FFMPEG I already have installed to the system.
But the big problem is when I play the Output playback the Input playback also plays but they both play in slow motion, about 50% speed with audio corruption.
Playing Input playback alone is fine.
It's a horribly outdated program and well tbh, I have better apps installed.

No, needs the plugin for virtuldub - one of it's 'features', is that it runs as a stand-alone app, rather then needing, or changing,.., any of your systems installed features.

It's my fall back freebie when I have to work on other peoples computers, can just run it from a USB stick if needed.

Besides, the suggestion was for the O.P.,....

Fair enough, but others folks can read, participate and learn too.
