Manofroto 608 stuck on leveling base?

Any ideas how to get it off?

Are you just trying to remove the head from the legs or are you trying to disassemble the 608? What have you tried to do so far that worked in the past but not this time?

A common oversight is the hidden flat head screw. You can see it in this video at about the one minute mark:

Manfrotto tripods usually have up to three grub screws to secure the head on the column. Like the video shows, loosen the screw(s), lock the column and head and spin off. The handle on the head should give you plenty of torque the get it started unscrewing off the column.

Thank you, Alex. I saw that video, but there’s no set screw on the 608. I looked for other set screws, too.

Manfrotto has a live chat room that should be able to help with this. Have you tried them? It appears on the bottom right of the screen as pop up:

I finally got it off. I locked everything down so it wouldn’t pan, and tapped the handle with the palm of my hand. Third tap, and off it came.
