jogiba: thanks for testing that Rode mic in all sorts of conditions (still trying to figure out how you strapped it to your helmet on that bike ride w/ dead cat test :-).
I don't think it's expensive for the great performance...it's cheaper than the Sennheiser equivalent (and video is another money pit of a hobby but folks who complain about the cost of the Rode don't realize that they should just stick to P&S cams because lenses don't make a difference ;-)

Cant wait to get one...

How old is your grandson? UT2004 is awfully "mature" for such a youngster.

Jason
Michael is 9 and UT2004 is not as bad as many of the other M rated games out there like Grand Theft Auto and he plays other games that are more age appropriate most of the time.

If you look at the bike video using the 6.5mm fisheye you could see the K-7 with Rode Stereo VideoMic was handheld.

Thanks for the comparisons on the bike with the rode vs. internal mic. How do you think the Rode fares against the internal without the dead kitten?

The internal mic works well unless there is any wind outside or lots of internal SR noise like when using long lenses like in this video using a 500mm F6.3 mirror lens handheld while manual focusing.

$150 is mono, $250 is stereo.

I bought the cheaper version of the Rode Video microphone and am very happy with it. Mine didn't come with a dead cat, but it still is quite a step above the in camera sound of the K7. It really does cut down on wind noise in particular and improves sound quality in most situations.

He is 10 and has been playing it for many years. Here is the latest video of him under water.
