Hmmm. if it does LiveView, which would make sense for a camera like that to offer, it COULD probably then do video without too much problem. Especially if it shares circuitry with the K-7. But what resolution?

Probably no larger than 1080p. Anything higher-res would need really really fast data channels, something MF-sized sensors are not particularly noted for.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's 720p, for the same reason.

Assuming it's all real.

I think all you'll get is HDMI connectivity for still images preview on a large screen. Downscaling from 39MP to 2MP for video would be an aliasing/stair stepping nightmare.

Sure full 1080p would be nice. They could do that, but they'd be on a winner if they made it capable of doing DCI too, ie:
2048x1080 (2K) at 24 fps or 48 fps, or 4096x2160 (4K) at 24 fps
Digital Cinema Initiatives - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

LOL. That would really turn the world upside down.

That's the thing, though. MF sensors are not exactly known for their speedy data paths. In order to manage something like that there might have to be either actual compromises in IQ or use of a really expensive sensor.

MF sensors get around 1-1.5 frames per second. You guys want this thing to do video? LOL.
Sorry...just had to say that. I'd be totally surprised if they added video support to it...

If you want to wait a few years (at least). They can't even push Scarlet out (2 years now).

RED sensor technology is a SLIGHT bit different from the sensor tech likely to be used by Pentax at this stage. I wouldn't get your hopes up for full-res RAW video from the 645D.

I don't think Pentax will implement video mode into this. At least I can't imagine them to do so if they want this to be taken as a serious medium format stills cam.

Is the Canon EOS-1D Mark IV not taken as a serious still DSLR because of video mode ?

Nope. Sorry.

Who said HDMI always means video ? This is just speculation since the latest pro DSLRs from Canon (EOS-1D Mark IV) and Nikon (D3S) both have HDMI and HD video.

The Nikon D3S stills and motion were captured using only available light through the windows (to the right of frame) just after sunset. The camera settings where used at 6400 and 12800 ISO.
