Your video editor of choice?

I'm just curious what everyone here is using to process and edit their videos with? I currently use iMovie '09, but am starting to feel restricted by the post-processing available in it.

It depends on your budget. For those on a serious budget but want full editing capabilities I prefer Magix Movie. I have both the full version of 12 which can be gotten for like $20 shipped and the 15 SE which is more stripped down, but can be had for free currently here:

I use just about everything in the edit suite at work, but my home machine has always been Adobe. Premiere CS4 is a nice all-in-one.

I'm trying to edit my KX videos with Premiere Pro CS4 but it won't play nor render the avi files - it just shows a freeze frame. Can anyone tell me how they are doing it?

I use kdenlive in linux

Why spending so much money when kdenlive has many similarities with Adobe Premiere Pro CS4?

I also have some older ulead and powerdirector 2.5 versions for windows.

The only problem with powerdirector 2.5 is, that I cannot save to the video-format 12080x720 so I have to use a smaller format.

Another great free to use software is Pinnacle. You can use the avi format for saving your files otherwise you'll need a license.

Before spending 800$ on a software I will see how much I can accomplish with free software.

Kdenlive is my favorite video editor so far.

iMovie unless I need a true multitrack editor, then Final Cut. About 90% of the time I'm in iMovie.

You need to install the codec for it. I had the same issue, but after I installed the codec, it worked perfectly. The files plays easily in the program, and renders as it should.

I actually managed to solve the problem - for some reason Premiere won't play clips that are dragged into the programme, but if you select 'import' they work just fine. Weird...
