So, I guess us Pentax users just have to live with a lot of work-arounds.

I haven't found this information anywhere yet, so why I am posting it now.
My main problem was, that when AE-Locking and starting a recording I've got overexposed images.
So, if you do a AE test (or DOF test) by pulling the on switch to the right, and holding it there, and while you are doing the AE test, you lock the exposure, you will get correctly exposed video when you hit record.
Hope this helps someone.

Edit: this was tested on the K-7 with the latest firmware.

Can't you also just reduce the ev to -1 when needed?

Yeah. I'm also kind of confused as to what the actual problem is...

If you auto-lock your exposure when you scene is currently overexposed, then obviously you're going to get overexposed footage. BUt if you either use exposure compensation or just aim your camera around until you get the exposure you want, then lock it, there's no problem.

Maybe you didn't clearly explain the problem you're actually having.

I have this kind of behavior when using manual lenses... Locking exposure prior to the actual recording often leads to overexposed footage...

I only use the AE-L to set the shutterspeed at 1/50 which it should be. Maybe try some filters to make it darker. And if you colour correct in post, it's always better to have a lighter shot then a dark shot.

Well, here it's overexposed as in "totally white"...

The reverse sometimes holds true, by the way : with manual lenses, in some conditions, when proper exposure is locked for recording but the camera is idle, the Liveview is severely underexposed.

Guess they have not tested the video mode that much with manual lenses...
