Remote control Video question

Hi - I have been using my K5 to record movies of birds feeding in my garden - I have the K5 lined up and focused on the spot where the birds will feed, I have HDMI out to my TV using a long lead and a wired remote to hit the shutter button when birds land to feed.
The problem is the screen will switch off after 3 minutes or so and say "pressing the shutter button while live view is on starts movie recording" If I switch the TV off and on again live view starts again for another 3 minutes. Why does this happen? It's not linked to the auto off setting on the camera and it's not a sensor heating issue as this kicks in after 5 or 6 bouts of 3 minutes standby.
Why can't I have the display on until the sensor reaches max temperature? Why does it turn off like this?
Darren
