Shake Reduction Help

Hi everyone. I recently got a Pentax k-x and I have been using the video mode, but for some reason the Shake Reduction indicator on the screen will not turn green while I am in video mode. I have confirmed that I have it turned on in the settings....is there something else that might be preventing it from working?

I don't have a K-x but I would assume that either SR doesn't work in video mode or the light only comes on when the camera thinks SR is necessary.

Does it show the SR off icon like this ?

Yes it looks exactly like that picture. I almost positive it should be working in video mode as the manual indicates that it should. I have it turned on in the camera settings, but it doesn't work in video mode. It does however work in take still shots using live view.

Go into video mode and into the menu settings. Expand the "Movie" selection and turn on Sharke Reduction on the last line. Shake Reduction has separate settings for stills and video.

Oh, that was the easy case. Glad it is resolved now.

There is another case where SR in video won't turn on even when activated for VIDEO mode:

If you set the drive mode (in video) to remote trigger.

Obviously, Pentax thinks that remote trigger means tripod. I recently mounted my camera to my car and would have liked SR in video with remote trigger activation enabled. Because a car isn't a tripod exactly; esp. on a dirt road

You can still drive the DS style, as it seems.

I've driven the C5 and suspect the C6 is similar in that the modern incarnations of the hydraulic suspension always were trimmed a bit tighter.

The DS distinctly lifted its nose when one accelerated from a stand still so soft was the trimming. One could actually get a bit seasick in the back.

Super smooth once on the way. I loved riding in that car and dream of getting one some day. There are a number of good copies available in New Zealand...

Falk, too bad you couldn't rent the C6. Try another time, I'm sure you'll like it.
