What lens mount is Sigma SD15 using?

A quick question. What type of lens mount does Sigma SD15 use? Does it use a proprietory lens mount or a nikon/canon mount?

Sigma SA.

Yes, it is pretty trivial information.

IIRC, the Sigma mount is identical to the Canon EF mount protocol wise, so it's not rocket science to convert a Sigma cam to use Canon lenses with working AF and all.

Really? That's fascinating. Are you aware of anyone who has done so?

Sigma SD14 converted to EOS mount - FM Forums

For a while a year or two ago someone was actually offering conversions of SD bodies to EOS mount, but can't find any info on it now so I suspect it is no longer available.

I've heard (from another forum) that non-af pentax lens fit sigma cameras if the aperture lever is removed, which is a relatively simple conversion. ie the bayonet fits, with only minor play.
btw, I haven't confirmed this in practice, and am not sure i will be dissecting my poor old primes that served me so well over the years!

The Sigma registration distance is 44mm and Pentax has always been 45.46mm all the way back to the Asahiflex m37 mount.

So with manual lens, they would focus a little past infinity and lose a little close-focusing distance?

Just curious, as i might end up with a sigma body!

That will vary with the lens.
