I see so many potential cool shots where I work but no cameras are allowed on company property. It is pure torture sometimes.

D600 @ $1500 ?

QuoteOriginally posted by nikonrumors:
Here are few more details about the rumored full frame Nikon D600 DSLR camera. As I already mentioned, any information so far in future cannot be considered as reliable:

The price of the D600 is rumored to be very low - maybe as low as $1500.
The sensor inside the D600 will probably be 24MP (made by Sony, modified by Nikon).
The D600 will probably not have an internal AF motor, which means it will work only with AF-S lenses (just like the D3200 and D5100).
The D600 will have HD video.
Announcement before Photokina (September 2012).
One or more low-priced f/4 lenses will be announced with the D600. For example, Nikon recently filed a patent for a 24-70mm f/3.5-4.5 full frame lens which seems to be designed for a cheaper FX DSLR body.

No AF motor is completely retarded, but I guess it makes sense if they want to recoup their losses from selling the body at or below cost.

I don't think so - that little motor maybe costs $25 and weighs very little (see: K100DS vs D40 in size and price.) That decision has always been about product stratification for Nikon, and is the same reason they left it out of the D40/D60/D3000/D5000, so the D90/D300/D7000 etc could be seen more clearly as an 'upgrade'. Thom Hogan gave them hell about that in an article a couple years ago.

I wouldn't even remotely consider a motorless camera, as it would make my favorite Nikon glass MF only

That's not what I meant... I meant that it would require D600 buyers to invest in expensive G-type glass, thus bringing in more revenue, rather than buying older D-type glass.

! Reason Why I love my D700

Won this lens on Ebay--was not sure what to expect. Got a chance to do some shooting with it recently and am impressed for what my $12 and 50 cents is doing for me. Here are some shots, following the Ebay screen shot. All shots on D700--No crops

Wide-Open @ 185mm

F/9 Short End

F/5

90mm & Wide-Open

300mm & f/8 (D700 Exif reads 270mm)

could be interesting, And quite frankly, I think if they want to attract FF crowd migrating from APSC they need something cheaper than D4 and D800
This is what the D700 is for.

The only D lenses I was planning to get was the 20mm 2.8D and the 135mm f/2 (everything else I was going to go for G)
I may have to re-think that if I go for the D600......
