Long story short, I was asked at very short notice to do some engagement photos for them while he was in town visiting this past weekend. I haven't done this sort of thing before, so it was an interesting experience. Here are a few grabs from the shoot:

I have to say I'm getting a lot of mileage out of the 70-200/4. Considering my traditional focal length use patterns, it's quite a surprise that this has been my most used lens on the Nikon rig. I will say though that when I was researching FF systems a year or two ago, the lack of a Nikkor f/4 70-200 was a major sticking point for me because I absolutely couldn't (and still can't) see myself lugging around an f/2.8 version. I'm glad they put this one out on the market.

Unexpectedly nice weather this morning canceled my waterfall hopes -- the light was simply too harsh. So instead, I decided to head back out this afternoon to catch sunset up in Mukilteo, since I had been out there a few times this past week hanging out with a friend who was in town on business. It was gloomy on the drive up, but the sky started to fill with character right as I was parking, and I barely had enough time to walk to this stump and set up before the light began to fade. I really lucked out, for the light was very nice indeed:

Ample bushwhacking went into getting on location for images #1 and #3. Scrambling down a steep slope for 20 minutes with decaying logs exploding under my feet, using ferns as handholds, boots sloshing through mud and runoff, slugs hitching a ride on my arms... heheheh. (Shot #2 is the standard composition from a wooden platform overlook right on the trail itself)

Last day in the lakes before I drive down to London tomorrow. Was a gorgeous and productive day - it ended with a few very long exposures as the the day ended. Freezing it was too!

These turkey seem to be doing a stand in protest at Thanksgiving and Christmas at Yew Tree farm close to Coniston. I got some Hogget (in between lamb and mutton) delicious it was too!
