I dont' know now, why should I buy K-5 for higher price with same or worse specs (like AF points). Hmmm.
Especially considering fullframe camera for wife (weddings, studio, portraits etc.) and need for good flash system.

Pentax. why? Why you torture us?
Because the Pentax has more FPS (the D7000 is on the same level as the K-r in this regards!!!)

I'm getting a bit fed up with all the complaints about the K-5 being too expensive even though we have nothing but rumors yet!

To Nikon Congratulations, Quite impressive. Now the two top are hoping what's in the bag of Pentax. Surely at pricepoint of K-5 is justified.

look here: http://a.img-dpreview.com/previews/NikonD7000/images/550DK7D7000compared.jpg

You still have to like the K-7/K-5 ergonomics...I wish the D90/D7000 was as natural in my smallish hands as the K-7 felt. Ergonomics are one of the primary reasons I want to move from a D700 body back to a D90/D7000...I want to feel comfortable handling my camera and not feel like I'm carrying a sack of bricks everywhere. K-7/K-5 is the epitome of a no-compromise pro travel DSLR. I can't say the same for its competition (D300/7D/etc).

Yup...none of these cams can be submerged, so comparing them without a testing lab is pointless...WR is WR until someone puts all cams thru the same torture test and shows one to be superior...
For me wr is all weather, thunderstorm to mist while moisture resist is mist and maby a few drops. As it sound.

I don't need FPS more than 5.
Especially if we consider AF-C, then I doubt K-5 will do rumored 8 fps.
K-7 for example does only 3-4 fps when in AF-C.

WR ratings don't exist, and each manufacturer uses their own terminology for weather resistance (i.e. - canon pro lenses and bodies are described the same way "moisture/dust sealed" as their semi-pros are, though they also concede there is a diff # of seals in the pro bodies)...moisture resistance evaluation has to be all about water pressure and water exposure time. Moisture is vapor and as such can invade a seal more easily than near-zero pressure liquid water, due to the atomization of the water in the air and lack of tension. So, warm humid days are more the enemy of optics than rain is. You just wont see it until later when the water condenses in your camera at a lower temperature.

Can we turn our eyes from past to current situation ?

K-r has FPS priority mode for AF.C. From K-r specifications:

"Auto AF (AF.A), Single AF (AF.S), Continuous AF (AF.C).
Focus priority or shutter priority mode for AF.S.
Focus priority or FPS priority mode for AF.C."

I am quite sure K-r does 6 fps in FPS priority AF.C mode. At least I have no reason to doubt it.

K-5 is upper level body so I think can wait at least the same functionality in K-5 or even better.

IMHO, if I were you, I would have switched systems a long time ago... No offense, no trolling, no nothing - just pointing out my opinion.

hoping for af during video-

Nikon has offered something pretty beefy at that price point.

If k5 can't do all that, i'm thinking they need to bump the price lower. and with the KR too

As a matter of fact, the coupling for Ai-S lenses offered by D7000 (in my view) outdoes spec-wise any offering from Pentax. Since I discovered that my K10D had absolutely unreliable green button metering with K 50/1.2 I did two things:

1. I replaced K 50/1.2 with A 50/1.2
2. I effectively cut off my compatibility at KA-mount point. Unless absolutely necessary I would use K or M lenses. But it is very unlikely that such a necessity would arise.

Again, it is my personal opinion. Yours may be different.
