D7000 Specs Released

Nikon D7000 Hands-on Preview: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review

Looks like an excellent upgrade for D90 users...the most surprising thing to me is the expected price.

Price (Body + 18-55mm VR Lens)
US: $699
UK: £579.99
EU: €599

What do you guys think? Looks like it sits between K-r and K-5, with a crazy cheap price point.

Edit: Looks like dpreview made a mistake on their prices, the Body+lens price is reported elsewhere as $1500, which makes a lot more sense.

Edit2: Moderators please move this to the Off-Brand forum. Sorry about that!

Those are mistakes on dpreview
Also... I don't know if this qualified as a Pentax related rumor(perhaps Off Brands forum?)

It's a mistake.

The body is $1200, or $1500 w/ kit lens.

Still looks like a amazing release. Good luck, Pentax!

It will start shipping with the 18-105mm VR kit lens from October 2010 at a retail price of £1299.99.

it means = USD 1500.

I was just wanting to follow up on the other on this topic in this section on the D7000, but I have no problem if a moderator wants to move this to Off Brands forum.

Look at the MSRP at the bottom of the page.

No way that is an $800 lens.

Thanks for the link! I updated the original post. The real prices make a lot more sense! The K-r and K-5 will fit very nicely with their respective price points now. I hope the K-r is as big of a success if not bigger than the K-x, and I can already see the K-5 grabbing a ton of people wanting to upgrade their K20Ds.

$1500 with 18-105

It's interesting how K-5 could be better than D7000?

More fps
Lower minimum iso
In body sr
Smaller body with PENTAX weather resist, d7000 is "only" resistant against moisture and dust
MA as i understand that the d70000000 dont have
Dng LR will work at release
Etc?

Is the K-5 better? At first glance it seemed the D7000 was pretty awesome, but maybe I was just seduced by the # of AF points.

HOLY FREAKING COW!!!

D7000 has an Ai coupling ring (metering/control over my Ai-S lenses!!!), native ISO100, an awesome 39 point AF system, the D300s's VF, finally a custom user mode (2 actually, U1, U2), a shutter that goes to 1/8000 instead of stopping at 1/4000 like the D90, and its only ˜80g heavier than the D90...this thing makes buying a D300s a really silly idea...$1200!!

Thank you, Nikon...for once, THANK YOU!!

Doesn't "weather resistant" mean "resistant against moisture and dust"?

As I thought yesterday, kit price isn't as great a deal as old D90 kit was...the best deal is body only price...
