Nikon 16-85mm/3.5 Any experience with this lens?

Just curious for you Nikon shooters or dual system users...have you any experience with this lens? Overall thoughts? Recommendations?

Check This guy's photosteam, it's his most used lens....

For the rest, the feedback is great, fast AF, VR and it's light and compact enough for traveling... IQ and sharpness are on the same level with the 17-55... though most 17-55 users won't agree, but it's normal... Brand new is a bit pricey, but I've seen used ones on FM for as low as 425$...

I reckon the going price is about in line with what you get for the money...and comparable to the VC version of the Tamron 17-50...with slightly more reach (at the sake of a constant 2.8 with the Tamron).

It's the usual dilemma... convenience VS 2.8... Although that Tamron is fairly compact as well and sell for about the same price.... personally, I'd have hard time choosing... 85mm vs "only" 50mm, but at 2.8... Depends on the intended usage I guess... For me a combo of an ultra-wide lens + 24-70ish is much more useful than a 17-50ish lens alone... Unloaded the 17-55/2.8 for that same reason.... 55 was a tad too short for my liking, nevermind the fact that it's a freaking brick... even though IQ-wize it was a keeper....

B.t.w. Tokina's 16-50/2.8 falls into the same price category...
