It seems weird that they're leaking the specs this early.

But besides that, I don't see any specs that seem unreasonable. It's basically like a D700 meets improved Sony A900 sensor. Or, in other words, a D3X with video. If such a camera were released, what do you think about the price -- do you think it'd be in the $2500-$3500 range?

7FPS at this resolution seems nice.
Interesting to see how the buffer measures-up though

If the buffer is large as well I would almost expect it to be a $3,000 camera. This way it won't take away from sales from the D3S and Nikon can still sell the D700 for $1,700-$2,200, which I think it would do pretty well at.

That's just guessing, though. Nikon surprised me with how cheap they made the D7000 at release.

It'd be cool if we could pick up a used D700 body for less than 1.5k. I know, it sounds silly. :-S

Not out of the question by 2012 I think. The Canon 5D can be found for around $1,000 used now, and it first retailed for about $3299.

They are already going for just under US$1,400K used but in-warranty in Hong Kong.

What could they be going for used in Hong Kong now? The new price of the D700 went up to $2700 here in the US, and a used one cannot be had for under $2000 right now. More like $2200 is the normal used range.

D800 is most likely pushed back now. Originally I heard August/September, but I would guess Xmas now. I heard Canon Eos 5 MkIII late 2011 as well.

Maybe they realise printers sell really well because they are cheap and the companies reap all the profit from the ink. Likewise sell your high quality cameras cheaply enough and people will get into the system then end up over-paying for the VR glass (ir whatever Nikon call it) over and over.

If you ever see one for less than $1700, do not hesitate.

A D700 went on FredMiranda 3 days ago for $2k w/ MB-D10 grip, 2 EN-EL3e batteries, 1 EN-EL4a, and chargers for both. Helluva deal.

The only thing that strikes me as unlikely about these specs is the ISO range...
