Sony announces A77 (A700 replacement)

so yeah, we'll see about this new A77/A700 from Sony...hopefully it will offer some cool, yet usable things Pentax, Canon, Nikon, etc do not.

Given these rumored specs I wonder if it will be a FF camera given the pixel count. OTOH ~$1200 is too cheap for FF sensor fab isn't it?

Not if it's a sensor that's been used in a previous camera (no r&d needed). But they know they can still get a better margin on a FF sensor. And there are no previous Sony FF sensors that fit the bill.

A77 will be APS-C, almost certainly.
