I'm sure the Nikon has a "My Menu" which you can populate with your most common needed settings

Fortunately the D7000 has the My Menu and 2 user settings - it took me 3 days to be shooting easily.

Even with my K10D I used to forget where certain settings were, even after 4 years of use;-)

Yeah it does have a MY Menu, and I'm using it.

I'm sure the Pentax system is better for this though.

Just got a D300s today and have D7000 on the way that I traded my K5 for. So far I like a lot of things about the D300s, except the high ISO is not the same, but certainly not bad. I plan on posting more of what I find as get some time with the new system. Continuous auto focus is so amazing! Still have the k10D, but not sure if it will stick around as I have it posted on market place.

Still haven't figured out how the auto-iso works on the D300s, the Pentax implementation is way better. Actually the whole Pentax menu system is better in my book.

I found each system is just as easy and even the basic settings required for the Canon 7D was just as easy to get sorted.

Getting around my k10D is no easier than getting around my D7000 - just different.

I've just found that even thought the D300s has Lo 1 (ISO 100) it won't let auto-ISO use it! dumb. Actually Pentax's way of using auto-ISO is way more elegant and sensible, using the 1/FL for knowing when to start increasing ISO.

I agree and even though I rarely used it with my Pentax, Nikons implementation leaves some to be desired...... I did, however; program the stop down button on the front of the D7000 to turn the auto ISO on and off, but you still have to select OK after hitting the front button...It is easy enough to change ISO on the D300s that I don't really want the auto ISO any way, but I really miss the ISO button next to the shutter release on the K5.
