I am sure it's for the new SX40 IS upgrade in the fall to the SX30 IS that is the best superzoom for HD video in the 24-840mm (35mm eqiv ) range handheld because of 4.5 stop IS system .

Remarkably simple design for such a megazoom. I wonder how good it could be optically ? All they need is to add a second zoom (to mount on to second camera) with a circular fisheye to 28mm equivalent and they have everything virtually sown up. Mind you, technology will make this defunct - it is only a matter of time.
Once the manufacturers cotton on to making curved sensors, spherical abberation and flat field correction will cease to bug designs . It will then be possible to make fast, light , less complicated lenses which will be as sharp(or sharper) wide open . Just imagine- high quality, not too expensive to manufacture lenses in the F/ 0.95 speed up to 200mm focal length ! Then all our current gear will become paperweights, just as the old 35mm gear has become.
