The E-P3 is here! Along with the E-PL3, E-PM1, and new lenses!

I must admit, the new models look a lot better than I thought they would. But they are also a bit bigger than I had hoped.

I'm primarily interested in the E-PL3, but the lack of a thumb dial may be a deal breaker.

The GF3 doesn't have it either, but the Q has.

My local camera shop says they will be getting the new models in stock in the next 2 weeks, so I hope to be able to play with them in the near future.

There are actually 3 Pen bodies announced by Oly.

PEN System Cameras

The 12mm/2 lens is very interesting and has a metal build. It will be interesting to see if it relies on in-camera correction to deal with distortion.

The 45/1.8 is also metal

I just wish they'd release a price on the E-PL3 and E-PM1.

The following link shows size comparisons between the new Olympus bodies and the G3:
Olympus PEN E-P3, E-PL3, Panasonic Lumix G3 Size Comparison

Given that I've already decided the G3 is way too big for me, it seems the Olympus bodies will be way too big too.

Looks like it's the Q that I will be primarily interested in.

Edit: GF3 is still in the running ... but I didn't really like the ergonomics - main deciding factor will now be how usable and SLR-like the Q is to operate ... pity because the E-PL3 kinda looks sexy ...

Thanks for the link Christine, nice to see a comparison. I currently have an e-p2 and G1 myself, but have pre-ordered a G3 - next to the G1/2 bodies, it is quite a bit smaller, and will make a nice pair with the panasonic 100-300mm I just bought.

The Q is interesting I'll give it that, I'm having trouble how the Q compares to any of the m4/3 cameras though! The E-pm1 and GF3 are likely the smallest m4/3 cameras will ever get - they both already sacrifice pretty much all direct user control as well - they'll be great cameras no doubt, but essentially point and shoot ergonomics (which certainly have their place). On the other hand the Q looks to offer up great control, but with a sensor that doesn't really need that much interaction. Beyond defining the exposure, there will be little depth of field control and adding the lenses makes it non-pocketable too. That aside, good luck with your choice!

Hmmm interesting. I'm almost certain I'll get the 45/f1.8 - it's exactly what I've been waiting for for a while...

I'd like to try one out first but I'm also tempted to get the EPL3 as a back-up for my GH2

Just a word of caution - I played extensively with the G3 and the GF3 at PMA 2011 - I found both cameras frustrating to use and have a few quirks which neither myself nor the product manager could resolve.

This is a photo of me holding the G3 - I found the G3 heavy and cumbersome, and not much of a size advantage compared to my K5 with FA43.

You may find the G3 perfect for your needs - I was very keen on the G3 prior to PMA but after touching it and using it I'm completely cold on this camera.

Very interesting - I always found the GH2 and 20/f1.7 to feel much more compact and portable than the K-7 and 35/f2.8 Ltd, and the G3 is noticeably smaller than the GH2...

The GH has a nicer grip though, My Pentax Super A has asimilar grip to the G3 and it does feel cumbersome despite being the same size as the GH.
