$200 more and you could have 645D, body only...
Nice full frame kits you have there.
I'm kidding about the 645D being just $200 more than a 2012 tech D800 though indeed it is $200 more than the Nikon kit you mentioned. D800 thethers out the the box too.
As great a deal 645D is compared to other Medium format options, for same money one can have D800, 3 highly regarded zooms and a 2012 tech flash, and a nice steak dinner out with the wife, two tanks of gas and some meter change to spare.
I'm happy with two full frame kits. My wife and I shoot.
We share glass, not cameras.
Picked up 5D II over the holidays for under $2000 new.
B&H tossed in $740 worth of goodies to sweeten the deal.
Not just for me, deal ran a couple weeks, ended 12-21-11.
I may get a 2nd brand new 5D II when it drops to $1800 around May 2012 from the funds I recoup selling my two 2008 vintage 5D.
Looking back, after 36mp D800 announcement I wish I had bought two $1,999 5D Mark II B&H Holiday Specials.
I'm not excited about adding a 36mp Nikon Dslr to my kit right now.
But I am happy for Nikon, D700 never routinuely outsold 5D Mark II, I'm guessing D800 will dominate 5D Mark II sales. As it should.
That said, D700 remains the very best camera I've owned.
5D II is pretty sweet, real glad I got one, it isn't up to D700 build quality, weatherseals, frame rate, the 5D Mark II is best camera I own with Eos Mount.
I like 5D II better than my first two 5D, though they still are great full frame cameras, 5D II did improve upon some things that I like having now.
I'm not real interested in buying D800 at $3,000.
Though its an aggressive price point that I assume will force Canon to be below when they launch 5D Mark III with fewer megapixels, 21-22 is the popular myth thesedays.
Then again, if Canon gets ridiculously aggressive on 5D III price I suspect Nikon will cave as they did when within 6 months of D700 launch, it went from $2999 to under $2300. I dropped $2320 on my brand new D700 some 38 months ago now. For $2300 or so I'd buy D800 instead of 5D mark II at my guess, $1800 new in May 2012. Once I added Canon to my Pentax kit, adding Nikon became easier. I suspect I'll cash out of Pentax, though Ricoh appears to be a great fit, 3 brands in my house is one brand too many. Be fun to recoup the Pentax monies to spend on more full frame glass from either Nikon or Canon or both.
I've noticed, Great prices on new gear in USA don't last, one must check B&H daily and act when price is right.
I'm happy for remaining Pentax owners, Ricoh may actually bank roll K Mount Full Frame Dslr whether others want it or not, I sure did, well by mid 2008 when I gave up on Hoya and added Canon 5D to my Pentax System.
I studied B&H Canon Eos prices from late 2006 onward and noticed their annual Holiday pricing trend and May end of the line Dslr pricing trends too.
Canon is very predictabile for people who want best price.
Pentax FF-K Dslr wouldn't suprise me now, seeing all the happenings going on lately.
Ricoh seems genuinely excited about growing Pentax.
