$229 Olympus E-P1 at Best Buy (body only)

Stumbled onto it online at Best Buy Olympus - E-P1 12.3-Megapixel Digital Camera - Silver - E-P1 Silver Body

$229 I think is a great deal for this m4/3 to get started...

Regards,
D

The EP1 takes pretty good photos, but you may find the electronics and focusing to be very slow, slow to the point of annoying.

I kinda have to agree and disagree a little...

With the latest firmware for the lens and camera, there was a huge improvement in both. If "histogram" is removed from the live view, also makes the camera respond faster...

As to AF particularly, indeed, no match for my D200 in terms of speed, but every bit as fast as any lens combo I've ever used on K10D or K20D, just more accurate

D

As long as this thread exists, I'll throw in some more options:

E-P2 + 17/2.8 + VF-2, $529
Unique Photo | Olympus E-P2 Digital Camera W/17MM and Electronic View Finder Black 262828 | uniquephoto.com
Considering the VF-2 resells for about $180 used, this seems like a pretty good place to start. I didn't read the fine print, but probably includes mix-and-match new-open-box parts.

E-P1 + 17/2.8 + VF-1, $386
Newegg.com - Refurbished: OLYMPUS PEN DIGITAL E-P1 Silver 12.3 MP 3.0" 230K LCD Interchangeable Lens Live View Digital Camera w/ M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 17mm f/2.8 Lens and Optical Viewfinder
An extra $157 for the 17/2.8 and VF-1.

E-PM1 + 14-42 IIR, $424
Unique Photo | Olympus E-PM1 with 14-42mm Lens (Black) V206011BU000 | uniquephoto.com
Resell the lens for $120, get double-speed autofocus in a great body. These have been cheaper before, but if I was buying now this price would definitely be in the running.

If I didn't care about AF speed, then I'd buy a used E-PL2 for about $200. They have a weak AA filter which tends to produce top notch results, and other people like the ergos.
