Fujifilm provides modified-sensor X10 to address white-orb issue

QuoteQuote:
We've just received an updated Fujifilm X10 featuring the revised, orb-resistant sensor, announced in March. We've rushed it straight into our studio to see how it performed, alongside the existing X10 we had been putting through our review process. We'll be doing more in-depth testing, to check whether the changes Fujifilm have made have had any other impact on image quality but, given the interest surrounding the issue, we thought we'd show our preliminary results. (Updated with image quality comparison)

Good news. I'm about to buy my X10 so it's nice to know a fix will be available if I need it.

It looks like the new sensor will take a while to appear in new x10s, so you might better wait a while!

They'll have to put the new sensor out quick, because I am sure sales will slow to a crawl once everyone hears about the fix coming.

Ordered my X10 last night. Got it for a bargain price of £373.66 with next day delivery. I had another look at Q specs and prices but the X10 appealed more.

I'm aware that at some point it'll need to go in for a sensor replacement but that's no problem.

In other news I also picked up a Canon Ixus 300 HS for the wife for £99 (I think it's the SD4000 IS in the USA?) The price was too good not to.

I have seen the shots with the new sensor, and they are indeed very nice. I haven't personally had a problem with Orbs, so I doubt I will send my X10 in for a switch. I carry it with me everywhere I go, and would hate to be without it for even a day. What a fantastic little Jewel it is! If you start looking at different sites and view the X10 photos, some shooters have done wonders with this little camera, simply amazing!
Regards!

Nice to see that Fuji is offering this. While apparently not affecting many/most shooters, it is good to see a camera manufacturer stand behind their product in this manner.
