Another nice user review that compares the HX9v, the RX100 and... the Pentax Q:

of course, it's even far from m4/3 cameras.
IMHO the RX100 is superior to the high end compacts and resolves more than the V1/J1 with a faster zoom in a smaller package. In my test, it beats the GH2 fitted with kit lens regarding resolving power.

Of course there is no miracle it's still a 116mm˛ sensor. But it's 2 times bigger than the former biggest compact camera sensor (ex: X10, 1/2.3" 58mm˛).

July release.
Will it be in your bag?
I need a high quality pocket cam. People are uncomfortable when you point a DSLR at them. At this point, the RX100 is my top choice, but I'm waiting for Photokina to see if anything competitive is announced. I also expect to save a some bucks by waiting a month.

Are you looking for a miracle camera? I am not.
I am looking for the best pocketable camera out there; and RX100 definitely qualifies to be on the list.

Fortunately for Sony, most people are more impressed with RX100 than you are.
