There were large sets of A99, RX1 and NEX-6 pictures leaked which were slated to be announced on Wednesday the 12'th of Sept.

Judging by the button layout, it would appear as though the design of the α99 seems build from the α77. There are however, notable differences in the shape of the viewfinder which bears some similarities with the α77's VF. The hot shoe and mode dials have changed also.

I saw something about that hot shoe on a Sony forum. For years many had groused about the Minolta mystery hotshoe, now they're worrying about compatibility with what they have. It's always something, especially with Sony (hence my Pentax gear ) - I just could not stay on the amusement-park ride that is Sony's development plans. I don't doubt this will be a talented camera, but not one for me.

Doesn't look like it has a flash from here. Surely that small section behind the microphones can't be one? That'd be about as useful as the front legs on a T-Rex.

I agree.
No clue why anyone would say that tbh,

What does the 'AF Range' button do?

And the 'Slow Sync' button suggests it may indeed have a built-in flash.

full specs added...

I don't know about you guys but this camera looks like a real winner!
No clue if it offers focus peaking, but if it does, this could actually deseat Nikon's fladship D800 on the price/performance side of things.

Time will tell...

I find the A99 pretty tempting if it will be released like this. Probably a great Sony sensor, IBIS, fast AF and high fps, a mount distance that makes it possible to use old M42 lenses and so on. Only two things disturb me. First, obviously the price is a bit hefty. Second, even if A77 users say they rarely get any problems from the pellicle mirror, the idea disturbs me. When the first SLTs were released, there were all those pictures showing internal reflection artefacts with bright lights on a dark background. Also, it robs half a stop of light, which isn't so terrible with an ISO monster that this camera will likely be, but...

Price is hefty but not as bad as it might have been if the D600 was the rumoured $1500, now that an Aussie dealer has it online for $2800 the Sony looks pretty good value side by side
So much for this being the year of the cheap Full Frame. Pentax could still be the first out of the gate with the FF value proposition if the spring release of one holds

I think the price will settle.

Also, if we use the same pricing model that was used with the A57/77 then we can expect this camera to settle at/or around the $2200 mark within 6 months of its release.

That being said, I'm rooting for Sony this round.
Now if it can just live-up to the hype. The A99 may just have a fighting chance

It's minor detail but why use USB2 when USB3 is available and fully tested?

It helps to have transfer speed when you shoot RAW.

Sony's plans are pretty clear and they're executing them. I still have no idea what Ricoh/Pentax thinks they are doing. I am curious what Samsung and the third party lens manufacturers will announce next. Fuji's announcement of the X-E1 was also good.
