D600 announced - $2099

Link ---> Here.

Not $1600, $2100. Still fairly attractive? y/n? Discuss!

Still much cheaper than the A99.
And with the added noise performance gained by the mirror, Sony will need to gird up their loins on this one if they want to remain competitive.

I wonder if this will fly off the shelves at 30,000 units per month as well, like the D800 did. If so, no drop in initial MSRP for a while.

Also, $2099 still leaves Nikon price room for a "D400" equiv aps-c flagship.

That's pretty close to the price I would pay for a Pentax FF. $2000.... but I don't have any Nikon glass.

About 1/2" bigger in every dimension, compared to k-5. About the same size as the D7000.

$1500 was a bit too conservative (but would have preferred it nonetheless), I was expecting around $2000. So came fairly close. Definately getting one in 12 or so months

Just slightly larger than the D7000 with the VF bump.

It has the AF motor - there was some talk about that being left out, which I always thought would have been ridiculous.

So, it's higher-resolution than any other FF DSLR out there except the D800 - and is really relatively small and light. And fairly affordable.

Pretty compelling, in other words

I gotta believe many saving up 2k will save a little longer and get the D800. Course on the other hand, those saving $1500 for the top of the line APS-C will save a little longer and get the D600 perhaps.

On another note, the ergonomics look terrible to me. I'd be parking my thumb on the two buttons. My Canon 5DIII fits me like a glove.

VERY ATTRACTIVE! Imagine the K-5 in its first release, with the 18-135, was almost at this level, $2,100. OK maybe a hundred less but still... now you can have FF for $2,100.

That said, I'm buying a K-5 IIs!!

About what I expected for price. I found it incredibly amusing that so many people out there (especially comments on rumor sites) were spouting "$1500" (or something near that) endlessly as set in stone fact, and judging the entire industry around it, even though they themselves were the ones who originally made up that number out of thin air.

Available September 19th according to B&H - wasting no time at all!

Pair that with the brilliant Sigma 100~300 f/4 [which can be had for around $500'ish in Nikon mount] and you have a great setup at around $2,600'ish...

This will probably cool down to around $1,900, but still not $1,500. In a few years, perhaps.

Looks like a fantastic camera, I can't imagine at the moment why this wouldn't be my next camera.
