NEX only comes in cropped, but you already know this. Would still work in cropped mode on the rumored FF NEX coming soon.

Either way, this is positive news and a robust addition to the NEX options.

Agree that it's positive news and adds more creative options for the NEX cameras.

However, for me personally, given that the FF NEX may be coming next year, AND I already have a significant investment in FF M-mount lenses, I really want to limit further significant investment in APS-C lenses.

I don't mind buying the new Sony lenses, as they are all relatively cheap, but I would rather buy more Zeiss M-mount lenses rather than these at 1000 Euro per lens.

Knowing FF NEX is coming. I don't think Zeiss would release any APS-C only E mount lens,

Will pass it. I don't mind to join any cropped sensor solution as initially inferior.

Why not? There are 7-8 NEX models which have been produced in the past 2 years as well as several of their video cameras which accept E mount. Why would you alienate those for a FF camera which has yet to be released? Sony will not go exclusively FF even when they do release said body.

1000 Euros = $1300 at the current exchange rate. Not horrible pricing, but not that great either.

It is nice to see other 3rd parties investing the E-mount though. That can only be good overall.

Press release says $1000ish, not in euros. Chances are it will be the same in euros as per the usual pricing.

If they can release a FF E-mount lens that can be used on FF and APS-C cameras why would they release a APS-C ONLY lens that will limit the sales in future?

VG-900, a HD FF video camera with E mount was announced a week ago. This vedio camera will be able to take almost all FF lenses (with adapter).

Well, I was going by your link, so if the actual press release says $1000 that's great.

That is a good question for the folks over at Zeiss. I am sure they can produce some FF lenses once that body is out and on the market.

edit: Zeiss is also making these lenses in other mounts, not just for Sony's E series. Fuji shooters can look forward to these as well. Maybe this nexplains why they are releasing in only APS-C at the moment. (?)

Whoops, sorry, my mistake. Anyway, if they are at 1000 in euros, chances are they will be at also 1000 in dollars as that is the way most things are priced in the camera world. Not an exact exchange rate since we pay a sweet little 23% VAT here on most goods.

That, and they are probably also trying to keep the prices down to make them more affordable. Wide angle FF primes are expensive, for example Zeiss Distagon 15mm f2.8 is around US$4600.

I would LOVE to use that 32 1.8 on a Nex6. I hope they have a deal with Sony to use the PDAF.

It's not going to be cheap, but the 24 1.8 and the 32 1.8 would be a really nice combo.
