Recommend Me a sub $300 P&S for wife

My wife's trusty cannon P&S "disappeared" at a TSA checkpoint (while I was focused on ensuring my K20D was not lifted). I want to get her a replacement for x-mas. Can someone recommend a good, basic P&S for under $300. Viewfinder would be preferable. I was seriously looking at the Canon A1300, but it seems to get a lot of neg reviews on its shutter lag, high noise, and long flash recharge performance.

Get her a K01 today while it's still $316 USD. Put on a kit zoom or an auto 50, set it on Program mode and Voila, a point and shoot. And she just might move on from there.

Both the K-01 and x-5 are too big. She wants something that is simple to use and that will fit in her purse but has good IQ and has solid construction

My husband has a Panasonic Lumix and it's an excellent little P&S - great colors, contrast, clarity, easy to use, fast processor - Leica made the lens, can't argue with that His photos are embarrassingly close in IQ to mine, considering the sensor size difference Very affordable, very slick, all metal - great camera all the way around.

Pentax Q or Sony HX20V. I have the Sony and I love it.

Thanks everyone. I went with the Panasonic Lumix zs15. For $184 at B&H, it seemed like the best bang for the buck.

I've decided to get mine the WG-1 Optio for Christmas. Seeing as she's destroyed 2 P&S cameras at the beach in the past year.

Too bad you didn't ask this on Black Friday weekend. The Lumix LX7 was going for $299 shipped at Ador and BH. The LX5 can still be purchased at BH for $249 shipped.
