I'm happy with the prints I do up to 19 inches, you say you're having trouble with K-5 prints @ 2 feet. I wonder if that establishes a bench mark there. Over 19 inches I send out everything to be done on canvas, and canvas softens the images considerably, so even though I'm printing @ 300 dpi and 30 inches, I like the look of the images, they don't need to be any sharper. I've just purcahsed an old 645 and a couple of lenses, and my sister's giving me an Epson V600 scanner. I think that's going to be my low cost hi-res solution. That should give me resolution of 18,000 by 12,000 if I need it, not to mention the lens properties of an MF camera. If that ends up making me money, I'll use what I make from the large format images to purchase the upgraded 645 D, once it hits 70 MP.
Thanks for the info though... very informative with reference to where the K-5 print sizes top out.
