Sony RX100 Mark 2

I really like the flippy screen, but it's a lot of ching. (says the guy that thinks the X-Vario might be worth it to some).

Agreed. $100 more than the v1 RX-100 is quite a sting in the pocketbook. It would have been nice if the flippy screen was there at the introduction of the v1 RX-100, of course. But for flippy screen, I have my NEX.

I hope people understand that 1/3 stop difference is not visible and is totally negligible.
We can say the old camera is as good as the new one image quality wise. Tilting screen is nice though ...

I've preordered the two new RX series compacts from Sony - I'd love to do the RX1/R justice, but I think it's a bit advanced for me, even though I use my DSLR pretty well... we'll see I guess. There's a summary of the two cameras here: Sony RX Series Cameras: Sony RX100M II and Sony RX1/R Price, Review and you know you want one. which is pretty cool. I found it really helpful to watch the 'release' webcast - there's a link to that on that review too.
