For some reason I keep thinking about using my Macro-Takumar 50mm f/4 preset 1:1 lens on an Alpha 7(R). Anybody tried that combo?

The FA31 is absolutely gorgeous on FF. Corner sharpness on full frame is very good, in the centre excellent. Same scene @f8:

100% crop from the left:

On my screen the house numbering is clearly legible. This is where the APS-C sensor + DA21 struggles.

And here are some people shots with the FA77 @2.8

ISO 6400, with a lot of brightening

I'm getting sick in the tummy with all these Pentax lenses on a fullframe....

I hope this is not a dumb request, but how about some shots of how them Pentax lenses look like on the A7+adapter too?

I know, i know... I can't have everything but being kinda a "perfectionist", i'd like to know that it doesn't look too weird.
(C'mon.. Just like how them silver lenses just look SO beautiful on Silver bodies.. :P)

I don't have a picture of limited mounted on A7 but I find the adapter too bulky and the combo doesn't look that good as in pentax body

Sony FE 35mm f/2.8 ZA vs FA 31mm f/1.8 limited

With some small M42 lenses and there are some ways to find a shorter adapter such as the Konica AR or the Canon FD to make the overall appearance to be smaller but still the overall length of the lens + adapter(s) + body is still bigger

Xenon 50mm f/1.9 in DKL mount

A7 with Xenar 45mm f/2.8 pancake mounted with DKL to M42 and M42 to Konica AR and Konica AR to NEX (3 crazy adapters)

A7 with LA-EA4 and Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7

When I manage to find the time, I will try to shoot the combo of FA 31 on the A7.

Cheers,
Hin

Hmm..... Don't look that bad.. Darn.. Now i regret getting all the fast lenses.. They'd definitely look huge and very, very, phallic...

Vivitar/Kiron 2/28mm K mount used Zoom focus adjust to focus on the stocking ornament(check out the 1:1 crop no sharpening) ..my daughter was hopped up on chocolates and candy canes and jumped in hehe. I was using my metz 44 pentax as a manual bounce flash

Interesting. Can I just put my Metz 50 for Pentax on my Sony A7 and use it in manual mode without risk of breaking something?

FA135mm @2.8

ditto

Pentax M20mm f4 @f8 or something

ditto edit: - btw very nice to be able to project different types of grid lines over the image. That really helps composing this stuff. The swivel LCD was also handy for this overhead shot.

ditto

I would't trust it securing well enough to shoot the running of the bulls because it doesn't have a lock pin hole in the right spot, but for casual walk around it does the job. Also when I use flash I set my Live View Display to Settings Effects Off or just set up one of the user setting for flash use

another compositional reject, the clouds weren't cooperating, but...

SMC Takumar 50mm, f8 I think, iso 50, here is a 100% crop right out of the camera jpeg, no processing.

this pic has a nice soft look, because of the light, but look at the ladder going down to the water(the focus point)... it's sharp under that soft exterior:

Sony A7 + K17mm f4 Fisheye

I recently found a nice copy of the (K) 17mm f4 Fish. Fun lens!

Schneider, your m20's lack of barrel distortion is amazing. This thread is really proving the idea that pentax lenses willl fall apart on full frame wrong.

Thanks Sliver-Surfer - I am looking forward to your experience with the 17mm! I love wide. I was already considering a Canon (sorry) FD17mm, just to be able to experiment.

@fuent104 - IMO it is a myth that the older Pentax lenses would struggle on full frame sensors. They are just fine and I'd say overall better on full frame then APS-C.

Regarding the M20, well....... the scenes hide the distortion. The M20 has a pronounced mustache-style distortion pattern.

So technically it is not a great lens. However, it is also an old design and very compact. Equivalent lenses from other manufacturers are not that much better.

Tom from PTLens created a lens profile for the M20mm on full frame based on this picture, which is convenient for others, in particular when Pentax releases a FF camera :-)

So with a few mouse clicks the problem is gone :-)
