Has anyone handled the Canon SL1?

Anyone handled the Canon Sl1 ?

I hear/read its really small and light, Wondering how it feels in hand compared to a K-5?

Canon EOS Rebel SL1 DSLR Camera (Body Only) 8575B001 B&H Photo

Thanks

Eric

Someone at work brought one in. I didn't shoot with it, and I only held it for about a minute. It is small, but it doesn't seem much smaller than a D3200 or other small entry level cameras. I really don't see the value.

I handled one at Best Buy just out of sheer curiosity.

It is indeed very light and small, however my biggest problem with it is that the hand grip is vritually non existent. It is actually quite difficult to hold the camera with one hand because of the lack of an indentation around the hand grip. It is quite ironic and unfortunate because since they made this thing so small, they sacrificed giving you a grip to actually hold onto.

I honestly could not imagine shooting with it. You almost need 2 hands on it at all times. What's the point of being so small and light if you can't handle it?

Go here and then click on the top view photo of each camera, and see what I mean about the lack of a hand grip:

Canon SL1
Size: 117x91x69 mm
Depth: 2.7"
Weight: 407 g

Nikon D3200
125x96x76 mm
3"
505 g

Pentax K30
130x97x71 mm
2.8"
650 g

Actually there's a significant difference in size and weight, however the lack of an actual hand grip would kill it for me, that's just my opinion though.

Only at Best Buy. My local Best Buy uses these huge anti-theft pedestals, so it's hard to get a feel for the weight of a camera.
