My Mirror Will Not Go Down

I just bought a Minolta XG-M 35mm SLR camera from someone and I am having a problem with this camera. The mirror is in the upward position. There is a lever just inside the mirror chamber. When I move this lever towards the right, the mirror comes down but once I release this lever, it moves back to the left and the mirror goes back up again. Does this camera have a mirror lockup feature or is there something wrong?

Umm...maybe I should have waited before I started this thread. I've fixed the problem.
