Is the Nikon D4s ugly or is it just me?

I saw the Nikon D4s mentioned on Peta Pixel.

Rumor: The Nikon D4s Will be Announced on February 25th

Seriously, is that a camera? I understand it's suppose to be "professional" with a battery grip and duplicate controls but this doesn't look right to me.

If I won a camera like this I would turn around and sell it.

I don't think the front design is so visually unappealing - but the control layout on the back seems unintelligible to me.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. But I bet you think the K-3 is just beautiful, no doubt.

Actually, I think my chiseled K-30 is absolutely stunning!

"Ugly" is such a judgmental word. Objectively, it is large and bulky, and the all-black colouring doesn't relieve that appearance. The best thing you could say about it that it isn't elegant, using the meaning of slender and refined (in appearance). I'm sure it's technologically refined, and an appropriate tool for those who need it.

Well, its a beast of a camera, made for specific purposes. Looking good was truly not a priority lol
But it looks better on a big lens

It's made for big, heavy Nikon sports zooms. And you want a camera with some mass and grip if you are using those lenses, trust me. You can shoot is portrait or landscape orientation without the limitations of Nikon's add on battery grips.

A K-4s would look better.

lol Ive never been a particularly big fan of the K3's looks. Most of pentax's cameras (k5, k30, etc.) looked like DSRLs but the for some reason they decided to make the K3 what is probably the boxiest camera ive ever seen. That being said, ive never really been a big fan of how battery grips make cameras look. I havent actually used a camera with one but it looks pretty damn awkward to hold. Ide rather just carry a few extra batteries..

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's very personal. And personally I find any kind of "design" in cameras completely out of place. It's a tool; hammers don't need to be pretty, nor do guns, dentist drills or cameras. They need to be shaped to do their job as best as possible. That clean functionality-only look is beautiful in itself. And colours hold no extra value whatsoever. So IMHO that D4s is one red triangle away from being very professional. LOL!

The Dx (D3,D4) etc, are tools not fashion accessories, so how they look is not that high in the priority list. Also, it is not "professional" it is professional, designed for sports photographers with large lenses that need to be balanced by a body that can be used in portrait or landscape positions for extended periods of time.

I think its worth pointing out a few things. For starters, you dont pay upwards of a thousand dollars. Second, a camera isnt a tool in the sense that a hammer is. I mean, it's part of your daily life. Its almost an extension of yourself.
