How does the Sony A100 compare to the K-x?

I'd really love to get my hands on an AF mirror lens, and the only one in existence is for the Minolta/Sony Alpha mount. I'm considering the Sony as a secondary body, and I only plan to use it with that 500mm lens. My question is... will I be okay with the image quality at higher ISOs? I'm not expecting K-30 ISO performance, but K-x performance would be nice... Thoughts?

Charles.

K-x is newer & will be definitely better than A100. You might want to check at dxomarks for the comparison.

I believe the A100 has the same 10 mp Sony CCD sensor as the K10D, so high iso would not be it's strong suit.

The lens auto-focuses quickly, and fairly accurately on the A700, or any body later than the A100.
Sony 500mm F/8 reflex lens review

If I were you I would get the faster Rokinon 500mm F6.3 with Pentax T-K mount and use it with your Pentax DSLRs.

Or for a longer range the Rokinon 800mm F8.

I had the chance to shoot the A100 for a few days. At high ISO it is noisier than the Pentax K10D (same Sony sensor). Many thought it strange that Pentax could get more out of the sensor than Sony. Sony noise wasn't as pretty either. The Pentax Q7 might even beat it at 1600 ISO. Cameras have improved greatly. I would consider a newer Sony body.
thanks

I have no use for a manual-focus lens with DOF measured in inches. I am *only* interested in an autofocus mirror lens.

I bet ten seconds after using the A100 500mm F8 (really an F11 lens) AF combo you will say to yourself ...what the heck was I thinking.
