The specs look like a Canon version of the Sony RX10.

Rumors have the Fuji X30 with a 1" sensor. Should be good news for all Toy Camera shooters like me!

What I see from the Sony looks very nice indeed, so a 1" sensor should be ideal for these little cameras.

Here's to hoping that 1" is the new 1/1.7" or in the case of Fuji the new 2/3".

Canon is also making a G1X Mark 2 with a much larger than 1" sensor, but it won't have the focal length and lacks a view finder (built in, it has a separate wart you can buy.)

I really doubt that a camera with these specs will be named G17. It will be a completely different camera than G16.
If Canon intend to make a highly specified bridge camera they will call it something else, as it will not be a replacement for G16.

With 1" sensor and 24-200/1.4-2.0 equiv lens it will be at least as big as Sony RX10, but heavier as the lens is 1-2 stops faster than on RX10.
And with these specification the price will probably not be far from breaking the $2000 barrier.

Since a F1.4-F2.0 lens is much larger than a F2.8 lens it would have to be larger than the RX10 but I bet it was an early April Fools Joke.
