A7s : 50 to 409600 iso and unprecedented dynamic range

I'd be surprised if Sony's A7s is only 12MP though...average consumer wants more MP nowadays
That is why they have the full frame 24mp A7 and 36mp A7r.

No internal 4k, need external recorder, significantly adding to the minimum bulk and cost. Even with an external recorder, it can only do 8 bit out.

As far as 4k video is concerned, it doesn't really compete with the GH4 IMO. Interesting for stills IQ, though, if the low light and DR hype is to be believed.

No 4K, no PDAF - I'll pass on this one.

I have the 4K GH4 on pre-order with B&H. Now Sony has a low light champion 12mp A7s , 24mp A7 and 36mp A7r.

Pity. I was hoping that this might be a good sports shooter for low-light telephoto use.

Yes. I think folks that need a low light/high iso camera will be much more likely to go to the D4/D4s than this one. At least if they like auto focus.

This camera is great for MF-only shooters like me, and I appreciate the 12MP sensor, the sensitivity and DR should be excellent!

If only it had IBIS...I sure hope Pentax is able to pull it off.

Gotta say I think 12mp is a very good choice. Assuming they didn't screw anything up should be a good stills camera in low light.

12mp is a little light in my opinion, but usable for sure for web based images and smaller prints. The video seems to be the key element here. I think it's a little pricey at the rumoured $1,699. Especially considering the mp count and the fps... but it is interesting.

A very cool option imho. I love the K-5 for it's superior dynamic range. Now there's even more of that. Pity I can't keep up with every great option that's out there.

Sony is making very interesting products. I can't wait to see a field test of this camera!

But since noise degrades resolution, a very good low-light sensor may 'punch above it's weight' when it comes to resolution.

Well, there's still an AA filter (I think) on the A7s. What I'd really like is something like 12MP Foveon FF with as good noise control as the K-5. Dream on self...

4K video needs 4K face, 4K production quality, 4K editing, 4K content.
Personally, I don't see why the layman (and many folks in fact) need 4K

My face is not 4K ready.
Its not 4K smooth.
Shooting my kids running about needs good quality, but not 4K quality (Love my kids, but I'm not narcissistic enough to think that its 4K)
I don't want to bore guests showing them my 4K video of my latest tour to Cambodia where every segment is interrupted by my lousy in video narrative (or none) and walking transitions from place to place (or some inane dialog on the tour bus).

Just not a video guy perhaps....
