Tried a video with the K-1 + Siggy500/4.5

Sorry for the shake, it was handheld...

They were kind of kissing each other, trimming, or something like that... very special behavior!

Been a while since I posted a squirrel picture. I'm using the K series 200mm f4 this month in the SIC, and a squirrel happened to be in range today.

My wife and I have attended a "birding" event the last few days held at Indiana Dunes National Park.
On a walk yesterday afternoon, she halted suddenly and pointed to a branch - and the Squirrel sitting on it.
I didn't think of the heavy manual focus Pentax-A 35-105mm I had been lugging in my bag all day, but took a photo with the '02 (5-15mm} lens auto focus lens already mounted on my Q-7.
Fortunately I was able to work with that, because the Squirrel was packed up and had left as soon as I took another step forward.

Two photos from a year or so ago.
In each case I readied myself for a chase, but then the "intruder" backed off;
I wonder if this behavior contributes to the survival of the species.

Been a long while since I and a squirrel coincided when I had a camera, but I was out testing a Pentax 110-70 lens on Micro 4/3 today and happened to have some nuts handy, so...

Probably not the best lens for this since it's fixed aperture F2.8, manual focus, and closest distance is 1.5M, but never mind. Rest of the images (no more squirrels with the 70mm lens) are in this album

The 70mm shots are towards the end.

He flies through the air....

... with the greatest of ease.

I love the challenge of keeping the squirrel's off my bird feeders. I've tried many methods over the years but they always seem to find a solution. My latest effort is to hang the feeder off an eight foot tall 2x4" post which is encased in 6" wide piece of metal ductwork, which is too slippery and too wide for them to climb........ until today when this young genius discovered that he was small enough to climb up inside of the ductwork and reach the prize.

I let him have his fill, he's earned it. In a couple of weeks he'll be too fat to fit

It's 106F here in Texas this afternoon, so the squirrels are gone searching for air-conditioning. But these youngsters found some shade by the bird feeder outside our kitchen window where in place of them.
