How cute, your squirrels are. I like the ones with fur on their ears. TFS

I have one as our oak trees are full of acorns this year, they're burying them as fast as they fall or as fast as they can clip the small branches off.

My reflexes were a tad slow, or my aim was too low. In the upper left corner you can see Blue Jay doing 'exit stage right' when scared by squirrel who came up from behind feeder.

More from another lens test a few days ago, this time a HUGE Tamron 70-300 on a K200D body. Another lens where the squirrel is sometimes TOO close! A very dull day, so some camera blur when I didn't use flash.

Flash used

Slight blur (long exposure), the thing that looks like a fang is a bit of an almond.

And another one liking the almonds

My cumulative album of squirrel pictures is here:

I've been busy since this guy showed up last month. He's so small, I thought at first he might be a chipmunk, but the first photo below clearly shows that he is a squirrel ...... but so much smaller than our fox squirrels - he actually fits on the squirrel feeder. The last photo shows that he may be small, but he has an attitude. {maybe he came representing Otis}

I went back to the park to stalk the squirrel again today. This time he was part way out of his hole before he spotted me. He froze, I got a couple of shots, and then when I took a step he backed into his hole. I expect I should leave him a few treats if I'm going to continue doing this, to make up for the stress I'm putting him under. I wonder if he will be watching for me tomorrow. We'll see...

Lucky squirrel. He seems to have a very nice home.

I guess it's too nice a day for a squirrel to hang around the den. Nobody went in or out, and nobody even peered out the entrance at me out of the corner of his eye. But there were plenty of frisky rodents running around the area, including this one, who sat on a stub and ate a nut, scratched and groomed himself just a few feet from the entrance to the den. So I'm thinking he's one of the residents. I might have another day or two to pursue him, before the bitter cold predicted for next week closes in and sends all the local squirrels into semi-hibernation.

I took this one on the same SMC Pentax-F 80-200mm f/4.7-5.6 that I have been enjoying the last several days, but this time on a Fujifilm X-T20 body.

The temperature was 20F, the wind was blowing, and the squirrel feeder was empty.
This guy was not happy with me.

This squirrel's tail should be straight, but the gusty wind is blowing it like this .... and the temperature is 6F.

Tomorrow, they are predicting high will be -6F at midnight .... during daylight hours temperatures will range from -17F to -14F.

Rupert would want him to spend tomorrow sitting in a hollow tree watching TV.

Today the temperature was -13F with a wind chill of -37F. I was watching some sparrows feud over the bird feeder, so I went to get my camera. When I returned, the sparrows were replaced by a squirrel ..... then a second appeared. For a moment I thought the two were going to share the feeder, but eventually one chased the other off the feeder, but he was able to pick up stuff under the feeder.
