Galaxy Class (photo heavy)

A Heavy C5 Galaxy was here the last couple of days. It was gloomy and rainy this morning, unfortunately. NEX-6 + Vivitar/Kiron 70-150/3.8 and SMC Pentax-M 50/1.4.

Those C5s are beasts! One needs to be painted as a humpback whale!
Hmm... That might be a fun modeling project...

But not cheap, no small-scale kits out there in production now except Anigrand's resin in 1/144, which is fairly priced at $115....
I'll keep my eye open for the old Revell kit at shows - though it's a collector's item since the molds were lost. Or find a desktop model to repaint...

Great series! Love the shot where the C-130's on either side look like roller-skates for Fat Albert.

Thanks panoguy. That one does indeed show off the huge size difference, especially since the C5 was parked well behind the C130s.

The C5 is soooo big....
How big is it?
It's so big you get three radar targets when it's on final approach.

I love the C5's. I remember seeing them quite regularly in my youth as they flew in and out of Dobbins AFB in N. Atlanta.

Never realised before how similar the front end is to 747. You pictures capture that.

The same kind of feeling I had when I first saw a 380 - "how Airbus" the front end was.

Thanks. You get a sense for the unreal amount of power they have when watching them from a rooftop a few hundred feet away.
