Looks promising, power zoom is a bit of a downer for me but apart from that it looks a nice package!

It does seem like us Brits are getting screwed over in the price again, B&H price $899 = £553.75, where as WEX UK are quoting £799 = $1297.17! Not fair

Cheers, Steve

Did you see their newly announced Camera phone? It packs a 1 inch sensor same one in Sony Rx 100.

Cheers!

Once they handle as well and have the battery life, why not. That said, I'll probably get one of these eventually. I'll have it as my point and shoot counterpart to my DSLR.

At first I thought the max res of 12.7mp was terrible. But then I seen the control layout and thought....ok I'm in. No pasm, aperture where it should be (ok, aspect ratio where it should be, but close enough), A settings when you need it, only complaint is the exposure comp instead of iso dial. Which I'm sure it will end up being when manually setting the other two. It's a hefty amount of money, I paid less for my k30, but I'm VERY interested how it performs in iso and lens.

Toy Cameras...taking over the world one step at a time! We've been trying to tell you this over in our Toy Camera thread...bet you will be seeing one of these show up over there as soon as they are available? Wanna bet!
I think I'll take the silver...but have a month to decide..... I'll also be going for that OVF.....gotta have it in the bright light here.
The Toy Camera thread is about to get more interesting ...if someone like Skank or another skilled shooter gets his hands on one of these babies.......

Regards!

(Shame on you Fuji, this should have been your X30!)

This camera hits a lot of positive points for me. The manual aperature and shutter speed controls and exposure compensation dial are nice. While the zoom range isn't the best, I understand the reasoning as to keep the lens smaller on the larger sensor.

And yes, the price is kind of steep. But I look at it as the cost is less than a new DA* lens.

I think this will be a hit for Panasonic. For myself it's the same thing in simply justifying the cost.

I’m quite tempted by one even though the UK price seems a tad steep to those over the pond, could get a return trip to New York with the extra cash.... (well not quite lol)
I do have a Auntie-In-Law in New York who could buy them I suppose, do you have to pay VAT and Import tax if it is classed as a gift.....

Will keep a eye on what the word is on the LX100, it is a more attractive option then a X100 or X30 due to the zoom lens and sensor combo, but I do love the X-Trans/EXR sensor and would keep hold of the X10 and X-Pro 1, I’m selling one of my Steam Engine which pretty much covers the cost

See what comes of it, Oh Rupert you are more capable then I, my biggest problem is forgetting to carry a camera!

Cheers, Steve

I think it's a very cool camera and 4K video is awesome but it's unfortunate that there is no articulating LCD and no touchscreen capabilities. Those are features that I have come to expect from Panasonic.

Looks really good. Potentially a RX100 III killer. Will be interesting to see where this goes.

See this is where I think Fuji had come away from the original idea of the X-Pro 1 with the X30 and XT-1, the tilting screen and touch screens are just something else to disconnect you from the photo.

With a normal screen you have to get involved, get on the floor or get up high, not just move the camera around you, and I think this is where Fuji done so well, a camera for photography where is now they are trying to do a camera for everything, but the video just isn’t their for that. The LX100 seems to have caught on to the a camera for photography idea but have given their brilliant video technology for those who like to use it as a little nice addition.

With the LX100 coming out I can’t see Panasonic stealing some potential buyers of the X30 and maybe even X100T.

But thats my opinion....

Wow that's really nice but not for me at that price. Makes me wonder (very optimistically) what kind of cameras we're going to have in a few years though...

This one is very interesting to me. Been looking for a 4k video camera that wasn't too gigantic like the FZ1000.
