The Canon Purse

See, Ricoh's not the only company "wasting" (my opinion) resources on camera colors and useless accessories: Canon Unveils Limited Edition 'Linda' Bag for Female 100D Photographers

Wasting when it brings in money, opens new markets and creates buzz for relatively little money and time invested?

Wasting? Well your opinion. Not mine. And I kinda doubt the Pentax engineers are 'wasting' a lot of time picking out color combinations, I'm going to assume they had the marketing department work on that. Engineers and color combinations are not often a good idea

Yes, if the K-30 and K-50 would come only in black, Pentax could roll out full frames left and right. But Pentax decided "No! We want to spend millions and focus on coloured plastic!" because that is, of course, what happened. And we all know that a camera can only be useful and pro if it is black.
Its not as if colouring plastic is an easy, cheap process that differentiates a product from the sea of boring, depressing, black cameras. It is not as if Canon also had coloured cameras in the past, as have other brands. Its not as if "black" costs something as well. Its not as if black cameras only became the standard relatively recently.

Ugh, lots of sarcasm in this post, sorry guys. And in my opinion, that white Canon and purse look a little plasticy, brittle. The Pentax stormtrooper white cameras look much more solid, attractive

Canon knows their primary market is the soccer mom who wants the "camera that takes the good pictures".

Well, if Canon gets even one of these kits in the hand of a popular celeb that shows it off they can for sure to count on selling a bunch of extra cameras to the public.

+1. All effort put into this is repaid with one published celebrity photo. Instant 'soccer mom' approval. (My apologizes to 'soccer moms' that are not swayed by whatever purse or shoes the celebrity of the week is wearing.)

I love stylish camera bags, but this one is a bit too chunky and gaudy for me.

It's possible to buy camera bag inserts from Ebay, and then repurpose ordinary handbags as camera bags.

This is my current "camera bag" - it's large enough to hold an α7r, FE35, FE55, HVL-20M flash, RX100, iPad, iPhone and a purse, keys etc. and yet still be discreet enough to look like an ordinary handbag.

When I see another fancy-shmancy useless cute bag, I'm glad I made my own insert. Going to make more.

It might be cute and all but really even though I am female I would never ever take something like that in the woods, to the boat ramp, the state park, the roadside shooting a train, old barns, trekking down a hillside.... ugh nah...ugh uh.. not gonna happen...never... even if I was wearing dress clothes, which I do frequently, I like a backpack or nondescript bag for the camera.

I may be wrong, but that style is not even for small SL1 shooters. That style girls don't use DSLR often

I know that the camera and bag were designed by a top designer, but to me, the whole thing just looks cheap-- something about the white camera and the silver leather of the bag. I think I'd rather just take my K-3 with 40mm Limited with me in my normal purse!

Hard to imagine any celebrity being seen with that bag. Maybe Paris Hilton, but not a celebrity.
