Canon 11-24

Looks like it's real... if so this is a lens I am jealous of. One of the things I asked Pentax to make was a 12-24mm F/4; this one beats it by ~8% at the wide end.

Canon has been churning out really interesting lens designs lately. For all the bashing they got due to outdated cameras seems like there's nothing left to be desired in the lens department.

That's why as a photographer I look at the whole system offered by a maker and live with or work around shortcomings. If I was a technician, I'd fixate on a component such as a camera sensor as the sole solution for getting great shots.

$3000.00 ?? Is this the price for real?

I have no plan to buy into Canon gear, just curious about this surprising lens, but this is a lot of $$$ !
Is this a reasonable price to pay for this sort of lens?

It's a Canon. Few are cheap. We will find out after it is released. Count me out for now.

$3k is the rumor. Heck it might all be lies.

I think $3k is too much but I think $2k is reasonable. Of course this might end up being the end-all and be-all of wide angle lenses, too, and worth a premium.

Nobody knows yet...

Not sure if the price is real, but Canon isn't always expensive, just sometimes.

The Zeiss 15mm, which is an awesome lens, costs nearly $3K. And 15mm on a FF is about as wide as I'd ever want to go.

8mm on FF is about as wide as I'd ever want to go. Unless I wanted to go wider.

I had the sigma 8-16mm for a while and i really liked it...but I don't know if I would get another lens with a big bulbous front element. If you want to use filters, you have to get unwieldy, nasty adapters.

Pentax did the slide drawer in the past... really the way to go in my opinion.

I agree, It eliminates the need for costly large diameter filters and it also goes a long way towards reducing internal reflections, which is a common problem when using front mounted filters.
