That's awesome! I guess Sony beat Pentax to it, but the good news is that this proves that FF SR is possible in a compact package!

Must say it looks cool but hope it's nothing like their phones. Mine had a habit of draining the battery and getting really hot. Probably not great if the camera does that unless in snow season 😜

yeah, thats great! This was the only thing I was missing in a FF cam compared to the Pentax system. So, my next big $$ will go to Sony, congrats! ;-)

Looking at this image it seems like Sony has changed type of sensor shift mechanism to the same tech as Pentax use (sensor shifts by magnetic force).
It looks very much like the magnetic coils visible to the right, and below sensor.

If so, it quite different compared to Olympus 5-axis sensor shift, and very much like what Pentax use.

Edit: it seems like Olympus latest sensor shift is also based on magnets/coils, so all major manufacturers of sensor stabilization seems to have converted to similar tech as Pentax.
But Olympus design is not as similar to Pentax like the version Sony use.

Yup! Except that it is e-mount instead of K-mount this is pretty much what I was hoping Pentax would do. Let's hope this doesn't scare Ricoh off. Maybe it will just guarantee a better price for the Pentax FF when it comes.

Time to wake up and speed up Ricoh!

- Now we know that it is possible to use SR at larger than aps-c sensors, good job Sony

That has been known for 6 years by now. Ever since Sony released their first FF (A900).

Indeed, Sony Alpha 900, Alpha 850 and Alpha 99 are 24x36 cameras with IBIS/SR. This has to be written time and again on this forum.

The second video shows it handling yaw, pitch and roll about the X, Y and Z axis. That is three axis. Where are the other two?

In a three-dimensional space a solid has 6 degrees of liberty:

- 3 in translation: up and down, left and right, back and forth
- 3 in rotation : yaw, pitch and roll.

AF-C takes care of small back-and-forth movements. The SR system has to compensate for the other five degrees of liberty.

They advertise 5-axis; not degrees of freedom. They must mean the 3-axis of rotation plus X-Y translations to be the "5-axis"
